Priced at just one penny under £16 this has to be one of the most inexpensive Bluetooth headsets I have tried and I was very pleasantly surprised by what I received. Inside the box aside from the headset itself was a standard mini-jack to mini-jack audio cable, a USB charging cable, and a small but well printed and easy to read User Guide – in Chinese only.
The headset is quite lightweight and looks rather cheap , the body feels a bit flimsy and the headband and ear cup padding is thin and unsupportive That said, the construction quality seems OK to me with no sign of the padding on the band working loose, poor stitching, or weak joints – all elements that have failed on similar headsets I have owned in the past. Time will tell and if something fails in the future I will update the review accordingly. One problem was the visible wire connecting each ear earpiece to the headband a feature which is not only ugly but from experience with similar headsets I know to be prone to failure.
The headset is supplied with a simple control free audio cable and a USB to micro-USB charging cable but both work seem well made and function fine. All the controls are nicely positioned and very easy to find on one earpiece and easy to identify by sight and by touch. I was very pleased to see a separate Off/On switch which I find easier to use than the usual long press of the Multifunction button. Aside from the usual track and audio buttons there is a micro USB charging slot and audio in port for when the headset is used without Bluetooth. The headset folds well for storage although no carry bag is provided. There is a SD card slot but this is easy to miss on the top of the control button earcup. It also has a built in radio which works when the audio cable is attached but reception is spotty and the feature hard to use, as it is on almost every radio equipped headset I have used.
Bluetooth Pairing simple enough and achieved in the usual way by depressing the Multifunction/Power button for several seconds. I was surprised and pleased to find voice prompts guiding setup. Once paired I found the connection to be stable and strong. The headset will also work with the supplied audio cable when the battery fails and there is little if any difference in quality when used in either mode.
Audio quality is the most important feature of any headset, and bearing in mind that this is a budget device I was happy with the sound. There is a decent amount of bass which is smooth and undistorted. Mid tones are clear and detailed and very easy to listen to. The sound is rather flat but comfortable and never abrasive or sibilant, at least to my ears. The sound is OK, good but nothing to write home about.
This a well made set of headphones, lightweight and comfortable to wear with decent sound quality and at a price that cannot be bettered.
